FIRE WATCH SERVICES
If you’re a property owner, and your building’s fire alarm system and/or a water-based fire protection system is not operating, you are required by the NFPA, and local ordinance, to initiate a fire watch. Island Security is the leading provider in South Carolina for your fire watch needs. We specialize in offering comprehensive fire watch services to property owners being threatened with fines and shutdown. Whether you’re new to local fire watch requirements or are seeking a reliable fire watch company to ensure compliance with the Fire Marshal, our team of experienced OSHA-certified fire watch guards are here to assist you.
Can the fire marshal shut you down?
Building owners and managers are subject to their local fire codes through operational permits and inspections. These inspections are carried out by your local fire marshal and any other coding officials and/or inspectors that represent the authority having jurisdiction to do so. The fire marshal or fire inspector has the authority to enter your building without just cause.
If at any time, your building is found to be in violation of any of the NFPA codes, the fire marshal has the right to shut your building and business down until the issues are resolved. This is not a favorable outcome, so remaining compliant with fire codes is absolutely essential, not only for your business operations but also for the safety of all those in and around the building.
Common infractions that can cause a shutdown of your building include:
- Blocked fire department connections and valves
- Incorrect or malfunctioning fire sprinkler system
- Improper storage in the fire pump and/or riser rooms
- Insufficient fire sprinkler clearance
- Hanging items from fire sprinkler and/or the piping
Not only is your building subject to the threat of a shutdown should you violate any part of the fire code, but you could also be faced with serious fines. The amount of the fine assigned to you will vary based on your state, the offense, and other local codes and regulations.
The best way to prevent fines and a potential shut down is to stay up to date with fire codes and regulations and maintain regular inspections.
Identity Verification
By far our most asked for service, Identity Verification is quickly becoming more and more difficult for local businesses to fully comply with. A decade ago, fake ID’s were extremely easy to spot from a far. These past fake ID’s were poorly made and did not function in any way to a real, state-issued ID. Fast forward to today, and the entire story has changed. Fake ID’s are not only rampant in use, but they are also nearly IMPOSSIBLE for most people to tell them apart from a real ID. Most fake ID’s are so good that police officers themselves have a hard time distinguishing the fake ones from the real ones. Island Security staff and employees are trained specifically in the spotting of fake ID’s.
How We Do It:
- Proprietary database that verifies individuals’ identity.
- Software that logs individuals that have had issues with ID verification in the past.
- Black Light techniques that spot small discrepancies in the ID’s themselves.
- Specific ID verification training on an ongoing basis.
Bar & Night Life Security
Everyone is aware that late night bars and clubs are places where things can go wrong in an instant. Drunken fights, unruly patrons, underage teenagers and a whole slew of other events happen on an almost nightly basis at many late-night bars and clubs. Instead of bartenders or other bar employees attempting to handle these types of situations, our staff is specifically trained in de-escalation techniques that allow for us to get a grip on these events before they get out of hand. Protecting your business, its employees and the other patrons of your establishment is our top priority.
How We Do It:
- Verify ID’s prior to guests entry
- Monitor entrances and exits of property
- Scan and wand guests upon entry for weapons and contraband
- Monitor the bar to assist bartenders with bar related issues
- De-escalate altercations between guests
- Coordinate with law enforcement as needed
Private and Public Events
Mid to large scale private events are always fun until a security threat puts guests lives in danger. We are a leading expert in security for conventions, construction zones, trade shows, sporting events, private parties and more. Hosting these events can be stressful enough, let us handle the security aspect of it for you.
How We Do It:
- Create an overall layout and assess possible security risks.
- Protect the property by patrolling outlying areas.
- Manage the guest list to ensure only approved guests can gain entry.
- Emergency response programs in place and coordination with local law enforcement.
- Deter criminal activity by having an overwhelming authoritative presence.
Personal Security
The use of personal security and private bodyguards has been increasing in popularity in recent years. Private bodyguards’ number one goal is to keep the client safe from physical harm by being trained in self-defense and other awareness techniques. Our bodyguards have gone through extensive training to deal with all types of situations and understand what and how to look at the entirety of a situation and deal with it appropriately. You do not need to be a high-profile celebrity to enjoy the benefits of having a private bodyguard. Local police resources do a great job, but they cannot be with you all of the time. We can.
How We Do It:
- Assess appropriate security level needed and create a custom detailed security program.
- Take the time to get to know clients by learning habits and vulnerabilities.
- Have the strictest confidentiality agreements in place to ensure your day-to-day business is unaffected and personal details remain confidential.
WEDDING SECURITY
Your wedding day is one of the most special things in your life that you will get to experience. You will have everyone there that matters the most to you to be able to share this special day. Key word to take away from that, “YOUR DAY”. Several different things can turn this perfect occasion and celebration into a very bad life experience.
Monitoring guest access
Weddings that host hundreds of people require significant coordination among a number of service providers as well as the bride and groom. The amount of time and energy that goes into planning the perfect wedding is enormous. Not only that, but your wedding is also not going to be an inexpensive affair. There is great expense of both time and financial resources when planning a wedding event.
Because of this, brides and grooms do not want uninvited guests infiltrating the reception. Island Security Officers can help you monitor access to your venue so you know that only invited guests are on the premises. They can manage a guestlist and log all vendors that come into and out of the property. Our Security Officers can also patrol the property to identify interlopers or other suspicious behavior.
If you are hosting a wedding, consider hiring Island Security Services. Our team is standing by to help you understand the services we can provide and the protection that you can enjoy with guards from our team at your wedding event.
Crowd Control
While there are likely to be few people at your wedding that you do not know, beach weddings could definitely be a different story. The mixture of the celebratory energy and alcohol can result in some rowdy behavior. People who are in the area might want to try and watch your special day or there may even be bad actors who just want to ruin it. Open bars at celebrations such as weddings can encourage people to drink more than they typically would. While in many cases this results in some interesting dance moves and plenty of laughs, in other cases, it can cause a dangerous or embarrassing situation.
In cases where individuals let loose to a point of disruption, a hired security guard can handle the situation quickly and discreetly so your guests can continue to enjoy the event. By having security guards on site, brides and grooms can avoid the uncomfortable circumstance of having to ask a guest to settle down or leave the wedding. Your security guard can use their training in de-escalation techniques to calm the individual down or escort them off the property. Guards can even help them obtain safe transportation from the venue to ensure there is no liability.
